Spillguard, and Healthguard is a new revolutionary way, of ensuring a dust free, clean environment for your family.
With Healthguard, we vacuum your old carpets, with a high filtration vacuum cleaner, before we remove them, to ensure that we minimize the dust particles from becoming airborne. We then treat your floors with an antimicrobial treatment, which diminishes allergens, mould, mildew and bacteria.
Spillguard, which is a 100% waterproof, gets laid instead of the old underfelt, which in turn provides you with many benefits. Remember those old carpet stains that keep re-appearing, every time you get them steam cleaned? Spillguard acts as a protective barrier against topical stains. It is environmentally friendly, and does not cost the earth! If you are not concerned with allergens, or if you have a new home, installing Spillguard, without the Healthguard process, is sufficient.

When we mention vinyl flooring, our clients head for the door! Don’t be too hasty, and don’t judge until you see the product! The perception that vinyl is the old linoleum that our grand parents had in the kitchen and bathroom is still difficult to change.

It comes in tiles, sheeting (for mostly commercial and industrial installations), safety flooring, its used for control of static, wall cladding, sports installations, and of course luxury vinyl, that has taken the flooring industry by storm.

The world's most environmentally friendly floor covering is, without a doubt, CORK. It is harvested from the CORK Oak trees of Portugal. There is an extensive range of textures, patterns and shades that has modernised the look of CORK flooring, without losing any of the traditional attributes and appeal.
If you are looking for flooring ideas for your home, you have probably given some thought to what you should use. It is important to choose a floor covering that will stand up to a changing environment. Cork flooring may be an option since it is made from natural materials and would not contain substances that could aggravate asthma or allergies.
Cork can be installed easily and is an easy care option. Other flooring may be manufactured using chemicals that can contain harsh odours that serve as asthma or allergy triggers.
Of course, there are cork flooring pros and cons to consider. The natural qualities of cork make it desirable for those who do not wish to be exposed to harsh chemicals, however it is an expensive choice. Cork absorbs shocks and is a good insulator, but it can also be easy to gouge or puncture. If it is not sealed it can become stained.
It is environmentally friendly since it comes from a renewable source. If cork becomes wet, it can swell or expand. Cork is a great choice but might be best used in an area where it would not be exposed to moisture.

There is a big question mark regarding laminate floors, that everyone always asks as they walk in;" Is it waterproofed?"
Yes and no.
It all depends on which product you use, and for which application. There is, for instance, one manufacturer who makes a laminate with a rubber seal, specifically for bathroom installations.
When laminates first appeared in sunny South Africa, it was so popular that it flooded the market, many different ranges were imported. It started off looking quite artificial, and the warmer tones were very popular, but today one can get almost any tone/finish one desires!
Not without hiccups -, our climate in SA is different to where they were manufactured, so laminates would"behave" different when installed here, like expand and contract , and would have to be acclimatized for a while, in the room it is meant to be laid, we had to find inventive ways to solve building challenges like level differences, skew walls, housekeepers had to learn to use dry mops etc.
Today, we believe, home owners are more educated regarding laminates, and through trial and error, the industry is thriving. When you consider laminates, your preparation is as important as your installation , and that is one area that we highlight, as we believe a good foundation makes for good results. We have a competent team, including an experienced builder/project manager, to advise you and guide you regarding laminates.
Under Floor Heating
Underfloor heating is a form of central heating which achieves indoor climate control for thermal comfort using conduction, radiation and convection. The terms radiant heating are commonly used to describe this approach because radiation is responsible for a significant portion of the resulting thermal comfort.
Electric systems are used and employ non-corrosive, flexible heating elements including cables, and pre-formed cable mats. Due to their low profile they can be installed directly under floor finishes.
Electric systems can also take advantage of time-of-use electricity metering as in thermostats, and are frequently used as carpet heaters, portable under area rug heaters, under laminate floor heaters, under tile heating, under wood floor heating, and floor warming systems, including under shower floor and seat heating.
Electric systems use fewer components and are simpler to install.
Warm Up electric systems use low voltage technology. Power consumption of an electric system is not based on voltage but rather wattage output produced by the heating element.

Being a grass, gives bamboo the edge as a sustainable resource: wood takes approximately 15-20 years to reach maturity, whereas the non-harmful harvesting of bamboo takes a mere 3 to 5 years. Bamboo has traditionally been the material of choice in most of Asia.
Bamboo Hardness: Fact & Fiction
The Janka test can give misleading information about bamboo's durability as a flooring product. Because of the strength of the Bamboo fibres, the floor resists impact with round objects like the steel balls used in Janka tests. The fibres act like a trampoline and bounce the steel ball out. However, as noted, the bonding material between the Bamboo fibres is much weaker than the lightens in wood. If a sharp object such as a rock in someone's shoe cuts the Bamboo fibres, the Bamboo scratches or gouges easily because the material between the fibres is relatively soft. Therefore, if a Bamboo floor and a hardwood floor have identical Janka test ratings, in reality the hardwood floor will dent and scratch less than the Bamboo.
Types of Bamboo Flooring
Bamboo flooring comes in a variety of types. The three most common styles in the marketplace are solid, woven (strand) and engineered bamboo flooring.
Solid bamboo flooring
Solid bamboo flooring bears its name because it is made up of pieces of solid Bamboo. In actuality,"solid"Bamboo flooring is made up of small strips of Bamboo that are glued together to form the finished product.
Woven bamboo flooring
Woven Bamboo flooring is also known as strand or strandwoven Bamboo. In this process, the timber Bamboo is shredded into fibres, which are then mixed with resin and compressed into solid blocks that are then cut into planks to be milled to a standard flooring profile. Woven Bamboo is much harder, making it well suited for high-traffic areas. The hardness results from the resin that is used and the density achieved by pressing the fibres tightly together.
Engineered Bamboo flooring
Engineered (horizontal and vertical) Bamboo flooring, is manufactured the same way as engineered wood. It is composed of two or more layers of wood and a top layer of bamboo.
Unlike wood, Bamboo expands and contracts somewhat along its length in response to dry or humid conditions, thus one must be sure to alleviate any bowing, by leaving enough expansion for the bamboo to move.
Wooden flooring speaks for itself.
When choosing a wooden floor, the character of the wood, is just as important for the overall impression of the floor, as the width of the planks. Natural graining and colour variation give the floor a lively and bold look. Some wood grains that are more even, with less knots, will give a calm and more uniform impression. It all depends on what your requirements are.
Wood is a timeless investment, and will always show character, whether it is newly installed, or very old.
Difference between solid wood and engineered wood: Engineered wood flooring is composed of two or more layers of wood. The top layer (lamella) is the wood that is visible when the flooring is installed, and is adhered to the core (or substrate) which provides the stability. Engineered wood is the most common type of wood flooring used globally. North America is the only continent that has a larger solid wood market than engineered, although engineered wood is quickly catching up. Engineered wood flooring has several benefits over solid wood, beyond dimensional stability and universal use.
The"clic"system allow for faster installation and easy replacement of boards. Engineered wood also allows a 'floating' installation (where the planks are not fastened to the floor below or to each other), further increasing ease of repair and reducing installation time. In general engineered wood panels are longer and wider than solid planks.

"Natural appeal for unnatural enviroments."
This unique product is long overdue in our fast pace society! Who wants to mow a lawn, when you can have a green lush looking lawn all year round, and avoid those demands, from the backdoor, when you're hiding in the garage on your lazy-boythatyourwifechuckedout20yearsago, pretending to fix the lawn mower - with a good book and a half-jack!
It would be very convenient to replace real grass, with artificial grass, but it is no substitute for a healthy, well maintained lawn. It is, however, very useful, for those problem areas, a narrow passage that gets no sun, under a tree, or as a funky rug in your college going adult child's lounge!
Artificial Grass is used for a variety of locations, like cricket pitches, putt putt courses, change rooms, landscaping, roof tops and decorative rugs.
The pile height varies from 7 mm to 40 mm, and it is manufactured from polypropylene.
Some ranges have a UV warranty. There is different ways to install the different ranges, some are simply laid on top of turf, and some need an infill of silica sand.
The subsoil has to be flat, stable, well condensed and porous. The synthetic grass is glued together with seam tape and adhesive. In general, the concrete stones and asphalt are good materials for the subsoil.
